話說桌面環境跟伺服器環境的需求差很多喔... 伺服器通常把幾個要跑的Service Load到記憶體後 剩下的就是拉不特定變數資料時才會讀硬碟(現在甚至有資料庫標榜整個放在記憶體上 這樣就更少讀硬碟了) 桌面環境則是把OS Load進去後 常常要開些不特定的服務 但是資料大底就是那些 變化很小 因此... 桌面環境資料重複性不高而連續 但是很容易遇到大檔 伺服器環境剛好顛倒-資料重複性高 可是不連續 大檔也很少 所以... 伺服器環境下 CPU的Cache要大要多 硬碟轉速要快 但是硬碟的Buffer不用大(因為不連續) 桌面環境反之 那...SSD為何要做Buffer上去呢? 因為SSD沒有磁頭! 不像硬碟遇到不連續資料時要移動磁頭 有Random Access Time的問題 BTW,如果真的用在Loading很高的伺服器上 15K還是比10K好太多了...很多時候都覺得WD很怪 真要拼應該還是得出15K等級的硬碟來打企業市場才是 |

所以我才覺得WD出了一堆號稱"企業級"的硬碟來吊吊消費者胃口 真的企業級環境裡 伸腳一踢不是踢到HITACHI就是SEAGATE......WD那是啥?能吃嗎? 迅猛龍算是PC理硬碟佼佼者~畢竟沒有廠商願意出萬轉SATA硬碟時 WD敢做出來賣 (當然我也買了一顆XD) 不過說實在的.....企業級的設備上一堆10K 15K等的SAS(3Gbps/6Gbps) 跟 FiberChannel(4Gbps)硬碟 以迅猛龍這種10K SATA II的硬碟想要玩企業級的市場我是覺得很難

wd應該是要吃下高階pc這一塊
畢竟沒有其他廠有同質的產品..... 況且,事實也証明wd做的很成功 跟其他產品區隔又兼獨佔(單指萬轉pc市場而言)

有沒有可能要跟SSD拼速度 所以單碟200G捨棄掉較慢的內圈50G
藉此提高傳輸速度 不然SSD速度這麼快 很容易被巴假的(少輸為贏!?) |

真的拿SSD跟高轉速硬碟(例如說這篇在討論的迅猛龍)的操作經驗來比較 其實到最後會發現其實SSD跟高轉速硬碟應該是不同市場的東西 SSD讀取普通大小的檔案無敵快 但是寫入跟讀取小Block爆慢->所以SSD適合當系統/常用應用程式碟 但是不適合把暫存檔放上面 高轉速硬碟正好相反 拿來放暫存檔超好用 但是拿來當系統/常用應用程式碟會被SSD痛宰 所以最後個人的配置是->系統放SSD上 暫存檔去撿二手的中暴龍 個人抓的音樂跟漫畫放7200轉的梭魚上 牧場就拜託LP了... |

我一開始也這樣猜...真的這樣也許可以快了20% seek time 效能跟ssd打還是完全無勝算,但是在容量的絕對優勢上又少了一點 不過話又說回來,買這種東西都當系統碟,150gb照理很夠了 假如真的這樣做我還是樂意接受的 我一直想說假如一台7200rpm的3.5吋HDD只用外面1/3圈 容量雖然只剩下1/2左右,但是速度也可以提升很多嗎? |
