4G ram on WinXP 64 question
Hallo,
I got a dual cpu computer with 4G ram. However, the system properties only show 2.75 GB of RAM. Anyone knows the problem? My system is Two AMD Opteron Processor 246 4G Ram Windows XP 64 Edition Service Pack 1 Thank you all professionals! |

Can you read? I said the review is targeting 32bit Windows...but the same thing for virtual address space...part of your physical memory is reserved for that by other devices/peripherals in your system ... Try this, enable hardware memory hole in your motherboard bios...xp64 should recognize more memory...(that's how I did it when I had an dual opteron system) |

Thank you guys.
My main board is Tyan Thunder K8WE. The board offers 8 memory spaces. It should support more than 4G memory. I believe I enable my system as XP 64 at my Bios, but It still shows 2.75 G. I will make sure my bios later. Thanks Helios posted the link. I will read it later. |

Another question is about 32bit and 64bit applications. Win XP 64bit support both applications. So.. 32 bit application uses 32 bit addressing space. How about when I use 64 bit application. Does my 64XP run 64 bit addressing space?

I just see my motherboard user's manual. it said, "K8WE supports up to 16GB with two CPU's installed."

In Bios. there are one option is related with the 4G memory. 4G memory Hole: I set it Adjust Auto, so 4G memory Hole size is 1280. If I set 4G memory Hole as Manual, how mcuh 4G memory Hole size I should set at? 128, 512, more or less?
