The new Ducati 999 Testastretta was launched at Misano on the evening of Tuesday the 16th of July and on Wednesday morning it was wheeled out onto the circuit ready for the 3 official factory Ducati riders to test. Here𠏋 what they had to say...

Troy Bayliss: 孏he 999 feels so good. The more laps I did the more I realized just how more stable it is. I pushed it real hard and had no problems. It brakes great also and considering it𠏋 a road bike it feels real strong. I have to say, it doesn㦙 feel like a 998 at all, it feels lighter and flicks through the turns quicker even though it has more stability. I guess I need some more laps on it because I couldn㦙 even get it to slide! On the road it must be great because it feels so comfortable and because the whole riding position is adjustable I𠍿 sure it will feel the same for everyone.

Ben Bostrom: 孏he 999? Fantastic! It𠏋 so comfortable that it feels like you could ride it forever. It𠏋 narrower and more agile. It𠏋 like it𠏋 a small race bike but it𠏋 a street bike. The boys have done a great job and when you see the both bikes together the 999 makes the 998 look so old. Besides the looks it𠏋 so much more comfortable. The race bike will be awesome but it𠏋 a great street bike. You keep the throttle open in some turns but there𠏋 always seems to be a little more there. Down the long straights here at Misano it wasn㦙 at all windy. The fairing gave great protection. The bike looks so futuristic?it𠏋 a bike for the new millennium. Yeah, that𠏋 it. The 998 looks like a bike of the 90𠏋 and this is definitely a bike for the new millennium.

Ruben Xaus: 𨧻 really enjoyed my laps on the new 999. It𠏋 so fast but also so comfortable that after all these laps I𠐔e done I𠍿 still not tired. The seat and bars position is very good and the levers more efficient. I haven㦙 had a chance to ride it on the street but it𠏋 definitely easier on the back and neck muscles. It𠏋 really stable after the 998, especially under braking. For a road bike it𠏋 very generous, It𠏋 easy to ride and changes direction far less aggressively than the old bike. The double-sided swinging arm has helped the stability and it moves around a lot less down the straight when you𠆫e on the power. The Testastretta, we all know?its excellent. It𠏋 difficult to beat the 916 and 996 but yesterday I saw all 3 together and 999 makes them look so old. It looks very modern and I𠍿 sure the race version will be great.
