The SAA7104/05 encode digital luminance and colour difference signals or digital RGB signals into analog NTSC-M and PAL B/G (and sub-standards), CVBS, S-Video and HD formats such as 720p and 1080i to put video onto traditional and wide-screen TV. The encoders can be directly connected to a PC video graphics controller with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 at 50 or 60 Hz frame rate. A programmable scaler fits the computer graphics picture into a standard TV screen with adjustable underscan area.

Decoder 是解各種不同規格的TV format, 所以應該是
用7104就沒辦法一顆晶片做到TV In/Out
但是用7104可以輸出720p or 1080i這類的電視信號 (當然前提是電視也要能支援, 如一些高檔的CRT電視或是投影機)
