So if there is to be a G550 is there no such thing as a Condor II or a G800? Is the G550 a new chip to fill in before the G800? As far as I can make out from information that has leaked out from Matrox over the last year or more the Condor II, G800 and G550 are all one and the same thing. Condor II was the original development name for the chip, this first came to light on a Matrox roadmap that surfaced somewhere in the Far East, it contained information on the Condor which was the G450 and the Condor II which later came to be known as the G800. The G800 name came to light from information released by Matrox, not intentionally though, they left references to several unreleased products in one or more driver releases, these were variations on the G450 and the G800 so as it was known the Condor was the G450 is was assumed the G800 was the Condor II. More recently a ex employee of a certain graphics card producing company posted several pieces of information on the MURC forums, part of this was that the G800 had been renamed to a lower G-number to avoid giving the impression that the chip was double the speed of the G400.
