我很難想像有美國警察站在任何一個市中心百貨公司或mall，敢隨意攔查一個外表正常的白人，會被告到死吧，而且他們沒有身分證，是要行人出示駕照還是報上社會安全號碼什麼的嗎  |
市中心百貨公司或mall裡雖然是公共場合, 但屬於私人區域, 會有保全人員. 真的要巡邏也輪不到警察. 在巡邏的保全人員也沒有權利看證件. 真的有事情才會報警處理.
美國沒有身分證, 一般人會隨身攜帶的身分證明文件就只有駕照. 不會開車的當然沒有駕照. 在美國出生的會有出生證明, 但沒有人會隨身攜帶. 社會安全號碼的卡也不會隨身攜帶. 而且這個卡號是非常私密的. 警察也不會和你要社會安全號碼.
另外一點就是, 紐約州有 "Stop and identify" 法條, 但同樣是民主黨的大本營加州就沒有. 共和黨的德州也沒有...

reasonably suspect has committed a crime. If there is no reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed, is being committed, or is about to be committed, an individual is

網路上還有教戰守則呢...
被警察要求看身分證明文件時不用出示. 直接問他 Are you going to detain me or am I free to go? 這時候警察多半會說, You are free to go.
所以我才說那個所謂 "資深" 駐美記者寫的是 bull shit.
