我認為，以加拿大主要城市為例，平均一年賺的加幣（未稅），其生活品質同等住台北平均一個月賺的台幣。
也就是要是你在台北平均一個月賺五萬台幣，要是你過來沒有賺一年五萬加幣，會覺得生活比台北困苦。這個數目從兩萬到二十萬看起來都是對等的...

雖然我不是北美, 我在紐澳也有同樣感覺一樣. 普遍而言把台灣年薪, 除個10就差不多是你在國外的薪資, 差別就是各國幣別而已. 和台灣一樣, 也是有台北和高雄同職不同酬的狀況, 所以各城市的消費水平也有差, 所以上述容易失真. 我覺得另一種方式是, 把自己的一年能存的, 除以現在一年生活的開支, 看看能在失業時在不喪失現有生活水準的情況下, 能多久不陷入困境. 把國外存的換成台幣來看存的比台灣多否一點助益都沒有, 除非有打算回台灣. 不過在國外工作要再回來, 機會不高, 生活圈和習慣問題.
