IOWA 全數退役之後, 已經幾乎沒有船隻能提供類似的岸轟任務了
現在多是五吋砲, 但是威力跟射程畢竟不比 16 吋砲.
再不然就是要出動飛機進行密接支援, 但是出一趟飛機的風險太高, 用戰斧太貴, 而且有被攔截的風險
兩者相比的結果就是...還是回歸火砲
火砲到現在精密武器當道的戰場上沒人敢完全除役不是沒有原因的
加上, 如果能改良精確度, 數十發砲彈還是貴不過一顆戰斧
