NEW YORK -- Chien-Ming Wang struck out a career-high 10 batters and Alex Rodriguez hit one of three Yankees home runs to defeat the Mets in Sunday's Subway Series finale, 8-2.

The Yankees built their lead by battering around an old friend, right-hander Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, who surrendered six runs and seven hits -- including a two-run homer to Rodriguez and a solo shot to Johnny Damon -- before being lifted with two outs in the fifth inning.

The Mets scored their first run in the seventh, when David Wright reached on a strikeout that trickled away from Posada for a wild pitch. Carlos Delgado followed with a double to right that scored Wright from first base. Carlos Beltran had an RBI single in the ninth to score Ramon Castro.
