L1 最好跟效能無關...
prescott 就是把trace 加大來彌補管線太長造成的效能問題

你就像是一個CPU的運算單元, register 就像是你面前的一張紙, 你可以在上面書寫, 但是沒法寫進太多東西...
當你寫完一頁報告, 或是需要找資料, 你會先去找你手邊所能碰到的範圍, 看有沒有可用的書籍資料或是把手中的那一頁先收起來, 等下也許還要用, 這個範圍就是L1, 可能你機車教授的報告內容要求也會放在這裡, 這就是指令, 你報告要用的, 不管是從圖書館還是從前任學長那抄回來的資料, 因為要時常參考所以也會放這, 這就是資料快取, 如果你伸手能及的範圍都沒有, 那你可能就要到你桌子旁邊的小櫃子裡找, 這就是 L2, 如果 L2 沒有, 那你就要到房間一端的書架上找, 這就是主記憶體,
如果書架上沒有, 你就要開車到幾公里外的圖書館... 這就是硬碟
所以當然速度來說, register > L1> L2(>L3)>ram > 硬碟
容量則是反過來
