Speaking of RoHS fun, tin-whiskering (inhibited by the lead mixed in non-RoHS solder) looks like it might destroy long-term reliability of even well-made products that have high-pin-density chips. It sounds like the mechanism behind it is still unknown, but Boeing has done a study suggesting that it gets worse with altitude. Avionics are exempt so far, though.
