Stepping值越低,時脈提升的空間較低~相對的Stepping值越高,時脈提升的空間較大,但是Stepping越高也有缺點,舉個例來說:P4系列就有20個Stepping值,所以P4時脈為什麼會提升的那麼快(不是講超頻喔)但是Stepping值高的壞處就是"運算能力會下降"這項原因導致P4在相同時脈下總是輸K7的原因,並不是P4設計不好而是為了能夠有更大的時脈提升空間,相對的K7因為Stepping值較低的原因,時脈提升較困難(牽涉到製程技術)這就是為什麼K7推到2200+就沒繼續推出的原因之一......
