Seagate announce Barracuda ATA V

Saw at Storagereview that Seagate annouced
the Barracuda ATA V which use 60 GB/platter 7200 RPM and also a Serial ATA vesion. Can't wait for the ancient IDE cable to be replace by Serial ATA.

Seagate's announced the Barracuda ATA V which will integrate these denser platters to yield a flagship capacity of 120 GB. Seek times are spec'ed at 9 ms. ATA-100 versions of the drive, featuring a 2-meg buffer, should ship next month.

Perhaps even more interesting is the Serial ATA version. In addition to the (mostly non-performance-related) benefits of S-ATA itself, the Serial ATA Cuda V will feature an 8-megabyte buffer. As a result, Seagate will join WD as the only other manufacturer to offer such a large cache on an ATA drive.

8M Cache可能 Maxtor IBM 也會跟進了, 指日可待
Serial ATA 終於有這樣的硬碟機了
