VirtualBox 3.0釋出->支援OpenGL2.0,Direct3D 8/9 ,多核
VirtualBox, 這個不用介紹了
新版在6月30釋出 有重大的翻新 最棒的是新版的三大新功能 http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog 1.支援symmetrical multi-processing (SMP).... 對於多核CPU來說,真是喜事....可支援到32核CPU 2.Windows虛擬系統 ability to use Direct3D 8/9 applications / games 看來不久以後連Wine也不要了...不過ability to use跟supported用詞不一樣 不知有什麼細節的不同 3.進一步支援 OpenGL 2.0 for Windows, Linux and Solaris guests....(2.x版應該是是支援1.5..沒記錯的話) 另外支援在32位元host系統虛擬64位元 guest系統 原本要64 host才支援64 guest 支援Direct3D 8/9這下看來,VM受衝擊了 新版的通常還有些bug,不過這真是非常好的開始 VirtualBox自從加上SUN的加持後,新功能的更新的速度似乎更快了 有四核CPU的,可以用力開多核心給guest系統來提高效能了 |
只是不曉得sun被併後，這些軟體的發展會如何?

如果你跟我一樣是INTEL不夠"高級"的U,虛擬系統開不了多核心 Guest SMP with up to 32 virtual CPUs (VT-x and AMD-V only) 沒關係,再等等,飛龍II很快就要到手了 :D :D 事實上可以開到32核心..有點像32條執行序 不過官方警告,最好不要開超過系統的實體核心數 另外,要享受Direct3D,記得重新安裝guest addtions |

打算安裝D3D的網友注意以下安裝注意事項 請f8進安全模式安裝guest addtions #Direct 3D support in Windows guests. For this to work, the Guest Additions must be installed in Windows "safe mode". Press F8 when the Windows guest is booting and select "Safe mode", then install the Guest Additions. Otherwise Windows' file protection mechanism will interfere with the replacement DLLs installed by VirtualBox and keep restoring the original Windows system DLLs. 另外開啟多核心也有幾點注意: #The following Guest SMP (multiprocessor) limitations exist: * Bad performance with 32-bit guests on AMD CPUs. This affects mainly Windows and Solaris guests, but possibly also some Linux kernel revisions. *64-bit guests on 32-bit hosts do not support SMP yet (except on Mac OS X). #64-bit guests on some 32-bit host systems with VT-x can cause instabilities to your system. If you experience this, do not attempt to execute 64-bit guests. Refer to the VirtualBox user forum for additional information. |

鵝試了一下,在NT$800有找的TL-50上開2core給guest(實體2core,支援SVM,但不支援nestted paging/PVID),compile linux kernel v2.6.30由原來1core的約45min進步到約22min,看來效果還不錯,據user manual上說如果支援nestted paging/PVID效果會更好,過一陣子有預算的話再把DT上那棵90nm 65W版的X2-3800換成K10核心的dual core好了:p:p.... |
VirtualBox 真是佛心來的 ^^;
已經從 VM 系列轉過來很久了 |

應該不會死才對，商業就用xen、oracle，免費的就打VirtualBox、mysql了
不然對手打出免費的東西，自已手上都是要錢的，那可是連讓企業主想了解oracle家的商業軟体跟免費軟体的差別在那裏的機會都沒有了 |

這就是問題了：如果這樣進行，勢必不能讓兔錢的功能強到壓到要錢的....這樣就限制了發展! 再說，以一般企業來說，mysql已足足有餘。國內不少.com公司，一開始以oracle做db，後來慢慢的轉成mysql....加上source code人人可取得，實力夠的企業就可自行改寫..... 如果是MS的做風，90%先賜死.... :laugh: 資訊業不論是軟硬體，非常流行併購對方來消滅某技術的發展。 :stupefy: |
