I almost feel sorry for these useful idiots who have flown to Egypt thinking that Egyptians are going to let them march through the country and simply open the border to the Gaza.
I feel sorry for them because some of our media has encouraged this idiocy.
Our media hasn’t talked about how the Egyptians refused to open their border for humanitarian reasons to allow Palestinian women and children to escape the fighting (as happens in almost every other war).
It hasn’t talked about how the Egyptian border is actually more secure and better manned than the one with Israel was (aside from the illegal tunnels) Israel was letting in 19000 Gazans a day before October 7.
It hasn’t talked about how the Palestinians are treated so appallingly by other Arab nations that they are kept in refugee camps 80 years old and deprived of basic rights like owning land, the right to vote or going to universities.
It also has refused to show what life is like in the non democratic Middle East even for privileged white people with British passports. Now they are getting teeny taste of what it is like for people who actually live in the dictatorial Middle East.
The hubris that they could show up in Egypt and do what they want is funny - I don’t feel sorry for them for that.
