SIGMA DESIGNS在2002年6月3日發表了世界上第一臺能解MPEG4的DVD影碟機.
此影碟機採用EM8500多功能晶片.

Question:What kind of MPEG-4 support is provided?

Answer:AVI files are used to contain the audio and video data; these must be stored on CD in the ISO 9660 format. Typically, the audio will use the MP3 or Dolby Digital format. The MPEG-4 video must conform to ISO MPEG-4 Simple or Advanced Simple profile, without 1/4 pixel (QPEL) and global motion compensation (GMC).


Question:Is DivX supported?

Answer: DivX version 4.02 or later files on CD (ISO 9660 format) may be played. Maximum supported resolution is 720x576 without the 1/4 pixel (QPEL) and global motion compensation (GMC) options.

這是試作機(非量產型)
和某動畫內V作戰的Gundam RX78一樣,一開始都只有一臺.
SIGMA DESIGNS是研發單位.
等到國內下游OEM廠商拿到晶片與公版之後,
就可以大量生產了(就如同GM吉姆一樣可以依公版大量生產...)
